About Supervillain
Supervillain Is a computer-moderated turn-based play-by-email
game (PBEM). There are multiple players in each game, each
controlling a single Evil Masterminds criminal forces.
The most powerful evil mastermind of all was recently defeated
by Captain Courage (a troublesome superhero) and his Doomsday
Machine was scattered across the city in the explosion. Now
the race is on to recover the machine so that it can be used
in your own nefarious plans for world domination.
Each turn players may submit a maximum of 20 orders, selected
from various types of orders available. Players submit their
orders each turn. On the due date, all players orders that
have been received are processed simultaneously and the results,
in the form of a Turn Report, are mailed back to the players.
The Rulebook
The rulebook is organised into sections for ease-of-use. Each
section is number with its own independent group of page numbers.
This makes it easy to print out and put into a folder if you
would like to, adding notes of your own and any future amendments
we may make. Orders, when mentioned, are abbreviated to their
first two letters. For instance, the MO(VE) order is abbreviated
to MO and the P(LAY) P(OWERUP) order becomes PP.
Starting Positions
Each player of Supervillain begins with a small number of
basic evil minions. The forces are spread randomly across
the city map. Each player starts with the same initial forces.
Power Ups
Players do not begin the game with any power-ups. However,
the scramble for power-ups will be a vital part of the early
game as almost everything is achieved through their acquisition.
Power-Ups can represent many things; named super-villains,
special weapons, cosmic intervention and even pieces of the
Doomsday Machine (necessary for ultimate victory in most cases.)
Supervillains
There are twenty different possible supervillains in the game.
Players are assigned one of them randomly. They all start
the game with the same starting forces, the various names
are really only for roleplay and flavour. The twenty possible
supervillains are;-Shadowmonger, Lord Evil, Dark Overlord,The
Witch King, Puppeteer, The Beast Master, The Clockwork Man,
Deus Ex Machina, The Clown Prince, The Barbarian, The Nightmare
Queen, Morgana, Professor Pain, Infernius, Countess Crimson,
Asylum, Brother Love, General Axis, Emperor Fu and The Green
Brain
What To Do First
Fill in a signup form on our website. When a game has enough
players it will begin. We recommend new players start an ordinary
game. Some special games will occasionally be available
to more experienced players.
Object Of The Game
The first Evil Mastermind to have a Doomsday Machine at 100%
is able to hold the world to ransom and become its evil ruler.
If all other forces controlled by Evil Masterminds are destroyed
and Captain Courage has also been defeated then the final
remaining Evil Mastermind is also considered to have won (though
this is extremely difficult in practice and somewhat unlikely.)
Methods Of Play
There are two ways to play Supervillain; using the client
program, or using the PDF Report method. If you choose the
former, you play the game through a piece of free software
we supply, which is installed on your Windows PC. If you choose
the latter, you receive your turn information as a PDF File
Report and send your orders back from a form on our website.
Either way, you are playing the same game. There is no particular
reason why one method is better than another beyond personal
preference.
