DungeonWorld Guilds : Player Info

What Are Guilds For?

Guild's are a vital part to the game, adding depth and interest to many levels of play. However, it should be remembered that they are not vital, and that players who want to go the solo route should never feel that they are penalised for not wanting to be in a guild. It is our intention to make the game consistently enjoyable whichever style of play you prefer. For this reason we constantly add new areas and features to the game for players to explore, whether or not they are members of a guild. However, guilds will also benefit from new features in many ways.

Guild Moderation
Guild activities and roleplay are monitored by Madhouse's professional GMs and the things players are saying and doing are used directly for inspiration and motivation when adding new features to the game. Consequently, a guild's evolution can and does directly effect the game evolution.

Excitement
Anything which integrates your guild into the overall game plotline will be exciting, interesting and encourage roleplay and activity. These things will not always be GOOD things. In fact, quite often they will be the opposite. Moderation could result in terrible events occuring which your guild will be flung headlong into. Nor is there any guarantee of a 'let up'. You can't be sure that after a period of awful events things will get better. They might just keep getting worse and worse. No attempt whatsoever will be made to keep a 'balance' here, nor can you be sure that you'll get the same balance as another guild (or even close to it). You might get endless bad luck, while another guild might seem to get endless good luck. We make absolutely no promises, or apologies. Why? Because that's life. Or, more specifically, that's life in DungeonWorld. What we do guarantee is that you'll be in for real adventures every step of the way. Challenges, spiralling events, deep and involving plots and counterplots.

Roleplay & Influence
Leading guild figures and notables become "known" and consequently influential in many ways within the game. A new player can very quickly make their mark in the game world in many ways, but probably the easiest is through clever roleplay and influence within a guild.

In-Game Bonuses
Depending on how the guild leader's have chosen to build the guild, members may gain special items, skills, powers, sidekicks, bases, and a whole host of other cool stuff. Guild bonuses of this type tend to be aimed more at improving roleplay, interaction and flavour than at actual power, but they are nonetheless usually great fun!

Cameraderie
There are few things as good in the world of Bereny as staunch companies, allies and backup in times of distress. Guilds provide all this and more!

Knowledge Is Power!
Guilds often share information and new discoveries, which means that it is possible to find out important and useful information more quickly. This doesn't suit everyone, but that's okay, most guilds are happy to share or not as you prefer.

Friendship
Through guild membership you will gradually get to know other real players outside of the game itself and you'll find that they are aninteresting, friendly and charismatic bunch. Many lasting friendships are made through turn-based gaming and it is one of the most enjoyable aspects of this kind of entertainment.
