About Positions
There are four different types of position available for play in DungeonWorld. In all cases we recommend the Adventurer's position as the most enjoyable and suitable for new players. The supplemental rules for each of the position types is available on this website (see the DW Rulebooks link to the left) for you to download and peruse.
Adventurer's Position:- This is the hack and slash, treasure gathering, monster bashing, exploration position. You begin the game with two adventuring characters, but can choose to control as many as ten, with many more sub-characters, summoned creatures hirelings and sidekicks. Don't be fooled, an Adventurer's position can be played as simple fun, or with complex diplomatic and roleplayed interaction with the players, guilds and game organisations.
Monster Positions:- Available in both "evil" and "heroic" types, this is a clan-based skirmish position in which you try and make your small band of good, or bad, monsters grow and thrive in dangerous conditions.
Estate Positions:- Here, you get the chance to run an area of land on behalf of the King of Bereny as a noble landowner. Farm, trade, protect and serve in this, a very different way to play DungeonWorld.
Trader Positions:- Control a trader as you negotiate the dangerous surface world of Bereny, working for profit and the accumulation of wealth, forging trade deals, exchanging stocks and shares, travelling with your wagon and guards through desperate regions in the pursuit of riches!
