About Destiny
Destiny Premise
Destiny 2 is the sequel to the original game, Destiny, which was discontinued in Summer 2007.
In order to allow quite a radical redesign of the game, although the sequel is set in the same game universe, it begins 400 years into the
future and after a radical galactic event called, “The Realignment.”
In the previous Destiny universe there was an area called “The Boundary” where the laws of physics had broken down. What the
Boundary actually turned out to be was a wormhole to another dimension. When scientists tampered with The Boundary in an attempt to
use it to harness immense amounts of energy they tore a rift in the very fabric of space-time, releasing a terrible destructive force that
had horrible consequences for the universe.
Science, as we know it, ceased to function. The fundamental forces of the universe; gravity, time and energy, struggled to operate
within their correct parameters. Moons crashed into planets. Suns imploded, exploded, or simply vanished in a puff of illogic. Engines
which once drove mighty starships across the gulf of space, fell silent as the physics upon which they were built changed irrevocably.
Mankind and the Allied Races, once the masters of the universe, became prisoners of the few worlds which had survived the changes.
The Realignment was complete and the survivors found themselves in a strange new universe and a strange new version of reality,
where even survival would be an incredible challenge.
Four hundred years have passed and an isolated pocket of survivors have managed to build a new engine. Operating within the strange
scientific principles of the realigned universe, Mankind is able to once-more spread its wings and explore the new universe.
But records and history have little value. So much has changed. So much is unknown now. Worlds gone, new worlds in their place.
Impossible creatures from beyond the Boundary may lurk in wait. With no contact beyond their homeworld the survivors know there
is much danger in exploring again. But fortune favours the bold and Mankind has never been afraid of adversity.
The universe is waiting...
Aims and Direction
There are no aims to the game, except those you make for yourself. Each character in Destiny will have their own ideas about
what they want to achieve, as decided by you. The world continues to evolve and change and your place in it will only be governed
by your actions.
